Flowers from yard...

I love fresh flowers in our home. It adds a whole new dimension to a living area. This summer i have been cutting flowers from the yard to bring them inside. Day lilies are so pretty inside but the sad part is it will not last for a long time.

Last summer I was given few Hostas’ by a friend, and they are the best they have a beautiful feminine fragrance to them.

I decided to cut few Hosta flowers, Hydrangeas, and Day- lilies. They were so cute. Do you cut flowers to bring inside or admire them in outside.

2012 harvest...

We have been harvesting for a while, but last couple of days we really did harvest our crop. The yellow summer squash have been growing since I have not being checking the garden on a regular basis.

I picked a whole cereal bowl of cherry tomatoes, and a one chilly. It was very fulfilling to gather crop from our yard. I cannot wait to start the canning process next summer. I have been eyeing few items for canning.

Our herbs have been taken over by the tomatoes. i would love to have some sage for thanks giving.

Roses are in Bloom.

My roses are in bloom. I cannot take my eyes off of them. They dance under the dapple sun during long summer days.

It is a rewarding plant to take care for. They are doing really great this simmer. What I really need is some antique tea cups so I can place them on my dining table.

Aren’t they gorgeous. What are you growing this summer.

Summer B’day...

It’s being a while, that I did not got a chance to blog because of Summer school. I was planning to enroll on a studio class for ART but I could not instead I took two serious SPED classes, No joke. I am glad it is over, Now  I can work on the stuff I missed. However, before I get carried away I want to blog on our camping trip. Yes, big brother turned fourteen this summer. I cannot believe my little boy is growing up.

He wanted to go camping and that is exactly what we did. We had a lot going on but it was a great break.

We had bean- rice and salmon for dinner it was YUM.

We took our kayaks, I did not join this time to kayak instead stayed in to finish school work.
We had a camp fire, and Niegel made the BEST s’mores. He totally scores a solid A on this delight. We did not buy any fire wood instead we gathered the wood around the camp site.

It was beautiful to sit by the fire to watch the wood burning. We gave his B’day present on his B’day he was happy. Nicolette was a happy camper as well this summer. We decide to have a cake at home as always and Niegel is embracing the teenage years.

Happy B'day Big brother and our little son!

Comfort Food...

I use to make mac and cheese out of the box. I guess that is how we all start one point certain foods. For me mac and cheese was from a box was a big help to plan my meals. My son loved to eat this when growing up.

Well I know better now. I make my mac and cheese from scratch not the pasta. Perhaps one day I will give it a try, to make pasta out of scratch. I found this recipe to make mac and cheese from here

Since then I have been hooked on this. We make this and I refrigerate it for kids not very often but for a change. This is definitely comfort food to me at least in our household.

The only change I did was to add thyme. I love this herb so much it just adds a sweet smell.

Nurture the Nature...

I have been blessed this summer with my young garden. I have mothered my day-lilies this Summer and they have been greeting me everyday with their beautiful flowers.  The geometric formation can be very interesting to watch in this flowers. I can see a triangle formation with petals and the color formation. I wish I can paint these beautiful flowers and preserve them in my house. I might work on that idea.

I am a proud owner of few beautiful day-lilies. I was shocked to see this beauty peeping inside from the kitchen window. Doing dishes has taken a whole new dimension. This is packed with pollen but I cannot keep my eyes off from these.
Daylily is a flower either you love endlessly or hate it completely. This is  my yellow garden. I have some red  peeking here and there adding a total different atmosphere to my yellow garden stripe.
I do have a yellow butterfly bush that I have add last winter. For some strange reason I though that it is not going to make it. It has been thriving in this corner. This year we add a dogwood looks like it is slowly taking off as well.
As a matter of fact this is not completely yellow any more there is pink, white, red and deep red. I want to add an architectural element to this corner, but the existing fire hydrant adds so much fun to this area.
Do you have a designated spot in your yard that you are working and wants to change. I would love to hear about it.
