Creative room, Art work!

I finally hung the piece I bought from the thrift store. After many attempts of painting over the the frame, I was able to add a bit of color to this old embroidery piece. I love the yellow field there is so much of detail in this piece which I love. the Flowers are beautiful and the colors does add a unique touch!

I have a modern piece I bought from Target on the opposite side of the wall. In way they do compliments each other! I want to make a collage of frames but I am not sure if I want to stick one color for the frames or mix them up!

What do you think? Do you think I should incorporate other textured frames or keep it neutral?

Yard Sale - scores

Past weekend was the neighborhood yard sale. As I was heading towards the Y for my yoga classes. I could not help noticing the early buzz around the block. I scored few things from our neighborhood garage/yard sale.

A beautiful vase, which I am looking forward to place some branches this fall. A brand new small rotary cutter in its original package and not even open. Two books to keep me company whenever I get a chance to read something fun! A beautiful wire/metal basket to hold eggs, or simply the garden bounty for us.

At work by my sink in the classroom needed a bit of a lift. I am always looking ways to keep it clean, and organized for little ones. I had few plates that had interesting art work I would like to hang them but I did not have any of those neat plate wall brackets and I was able score one from our neighborhood yard sale. Final iteam was three (small, medium, and large) palm leaf pouches to store neat iteams, which I am sure I can find plenty at my sewing table!

All this goodies end up in a grand total of only $ 4.25 not too bad on neighborhood yard sales!

Thrift store journey...

I took a small day trip with my neighbor to a thrift store. It is always fun to go out with a gal who knows the place. My lovely neighbor knew exactly what I was looking for. It was fun we were there super early go through store. She had three boxes that she wanted to donate and I had none. Perhaps, next time I can be more prepared.

The store was in an old house. I wish I took some pictures and it was four levels counting the basement. The volunteers were super nice and very generous to slash the prices.

What did I score? well, few things. To begin, I was actually gravitating towards the picture frames and I found few neat pieces.
A beautiful hand embroidery piece and it was framed, no date on it but it could add some color to my sewing room. I am thinking to paint the frame to add a bit of color to the piece.

The other frames were, one for little Nicolette and to my sewing / creative room.

A neat hand appliqué table cloth...

Eight bulb vases (these were quarter a piece). I love to plant bulbs with my daughter and watch them grow. This will be a cool projects for this Fall/ Spring. I am planning to do this with kids at school as well. I have been eyeing the bulb vases at the nursery and did not want to pay that high price tag.

Four, candle stick holders once again a quarter a piece.

Cheese dome with a board. I always wanted to get one, but keeps forgetting. We could have some cheese this Fall.

Guess what, the total for all this was eighteen dollars not too bad. The most high tag was the embroidery piece.

Do you make time to go to a thrift store if so, do you stay closer to your town.
What have you scored recently from a thrift store?
